Br. Dick

If you have the distinct pleasure of knowing my father in law, you know that he is quite the character. I've never met anyone like him- unless you count his two sons, but knowing them is just like a sneak peak compared to knowing Dick. Dick is the strongest man of faith I know- he is wise and so passionate about Jesus. He has taught me so much, and best of all, he has raised a boy that is a wonderful husband to me and an amazing daddy to his little girl. Right now he's in the Philippines training pastors. On his way to the airport last week he climbed into the back seat to appease my fussy daughter. He was being a good Grandpa- or maybe he was just looking for a fresh audience for his jokes. Jo gets his humor. Sara sent me this picture from her phone, and I love that she is in it & the look on Dick's face. But it gets better...so much better....

...below is my new favorite picture in all the universe. They were SO excited to have Brother Dick visit (Br. = Brother) that they printed his picture on some sort of fabric that looks to be about two stories high. I can just see Dick turning the corner & seeing this- I am sure he was very gracious and told them how honored he was, but I KNOW he probably could have died laughing. There is already talk of somehow getting this poster & hanging it outside our church or maybe off the Middlebrooks 2nd story deck. He will NEVER hear the end of this...
